OPPO sees huge demand for R9 launches New Variant R9km with JDI Displays in China

OPPO, the Chinese maker of premium smartphones, launched their latest flagship handset, the R9 couple of months back in March in China. With a huge demand for the device in the home country, the company is facing some supply chain management issues with their AMOLED display panels.
Their glamorous R9 handset is selling record high, all thanks to astonishing sales number roped in by OPPO's new offering; the company has become quite popular in the domestic smartphone market. There are reports that OPPO has overtaken the Apple as a second largest seller of smartphones in China.

As most companies do it, OPPO relies on Samsung for the AMOLED panels for their handset. The R9, which is selling like hot cakes sports an AMOLED display. Recently, Wu Qiang, the president of OPPO Digital in China, announced on its weibo page that company is facing a shortage of AMOLED display panels for their R9 handset.
OPPO R9/F1 Plus Smartphone Bursts in China, Display Completely goes Dead
Mr Qiang took the liberty to announce that they would be catering this problem by the introduction of new screen panels from supplier JDI and would call it R9km. So, that users who are interested in getting their hands on with OPPO's R9 handset, they don't have to wait. Although, they do might have to compromise with the display. Though, it can't be commented if there would be a large difference or a difference at all in quality, which would be noticeable by the user.
The R9 itself is a well-equipped handset that packs 5.5-inch AMOLED display and this year lots of handset makers have moved to AMOLED panels, instead of LCD panels on their smartphone. That's why AMOLED display suppliers have seen lots of demand. As far as the pricing is concerned, the R9 smartphone now retails at 2499 Yuan, which is 300 Yuan less than it's launched price of 2799 Yuan.
